Hippies & markets
In the sixties the hippies discovered the wild and rural island of Ibiza. Hippies from all over Europe fled to Ibiza and had a big influence on the attitude and atmosphere that you find on the music, markets and fashion on the island nowadays. Big open-air festivals, in the style of Woodstock where the first music-events on the island and the hippies the first tourists. Nowadays there are still a lot of Ibiza-visitors that like to dress up as hippies to feel really free for the time they are on the island. There are still a few hippies living on Ibiza, but they live a quiet life in the mountains. There are more spots where hippies still meet up. At Bar Anita´s in San Carles or at one of the hippiemarkets on the island.

Close to the city of Santa Eulària there are the two biggest hippiemarkets of Ibiza. A visit to one of the hippiemarkets is an absolute must. The hippies gave the island its charm and still live from what they make and sell on the markets. A lot of excentric stuff will await you. And where else than on a lively and colorful market you will get an insight on the unconventional way of Hippylife? On Wednesday the oldest hippiemarket on the island is at ´Punta Arabi´.
